IOL Broadband

Late last week i ordered the package that IOL are offering of the 3 month free trial with 4th month free if you sign up for the year.

The IOL person i was talking to told me it would take 4 weeks to deilver the mdem etc. Is this an accurate estimate on their behalf? Will it take them that long to send it out? I realise it is probably a very popular offer at the moment but surely it wont take that long.
Has any one else signed up and been told that or have they gotten their equipment sooner?

There's probably a 2-3 week lead time in getting your line enabled for DSL at the exchange. No point in sending you the CPE until then.

Believe me and take my advice very seriously!! you will be delayed with iol my friend was waiting over 4 weeks for his package and they kept messing up his details and ended up sending his package to neighbours! iols broadband service is almost reminisent of an amateur company, I have iol broadband and was paying by direct debit from an account i never use!! They rang me a 3 weeks ago telling me i have never paid any charges and i owe them over €600 i wanted to talk to the supervisor and was told i would be contacted shortly, i'm still waiting for the call, try someone else, maybe UTV they are offering competitive packages or wait til eircom bring out the true DSL line.

Ordered mine today over the phone and IOL person said i would have it "within 15 days", as it says on their website.

Edit:: just checked e-mail and this has been pushed out to twenty working days :( as explained below:
"The activation process normally takes 15 days, but due to the great success of our '3 Months Free Trial' promotion we are expecting the order process to take a little longer and estimate that you should be activated within 20 working days."

I have IOLBB since last July, even though it was a fairly new service at the time I was impressed with their service. I have had a continuous service since and their support line has been fine for the 1 or 2 times I've had cause to use it.

Why did you give them an account number with no funds in it? I don't think you can slag them off when you act the muppet with them. They're not privvy to your acount details other than it exists ! What was the point of requesting a supervisor, what were you expecting him to do - apologise for your stupidity in giving them a dorment bank account !! Pay the money you owe them unless you have a gripe with their service otherwise stop dissing them !!

How long ago did the trial actaully start? The process seems to have got slower due to alot of people signing up for it.

I rang IOL this morning just to get an idea of the status of my order.

They got back to me and said that i hadnt been made "Live " yet because Eircom had not done the work on their side of things.

How long does something like this take? A little bit of work to be done in the Exchange i assume?

    Anyone got any ideas?
