Which is the best Sky Plus Box. ?
My old digibox iis giving trouble and I
    am considering getting Sky +.
As an existing subscriber will I be able to avail of the
€299 deal or is there a way around it. I can discontinue
my current subscription at any time as I have not signed
a direct debit. I have been sky customer for about 8 years.
Could I apply for a new subscriptin and use my wifes name. ???
I see individuals recommending ESB as best installer.
I would personally prefer to buy the box myself but I undersatnd
it can be difficult to have it enabled.?? I already have twin LNB in Place.
    Thank You

There are only two types of Sky+ box available, an Amstrad one and a Pace one. Pace made the original Sky+ box but this is not available anymore and they now supply a version 2 box. There is no functional difference between any of the boxes. I have not heard of anyone here getting the Amstrad box so I'd imagine that you will get the pace one.

The €299 deal is open to everyone. If you have two coax cables running from the dish to wherever you are going to have the sky plus box then you probably can get away without any installation.

You shouldn't have any trouble activating the box.

    Thank you for the information.
My Pace diigibox has just gone dead again
while changing CHs. It comes back to life again
after a few seconds and has to go thru the full
routine as after a power failure. It happens three or 4
    times every evening.
    Cheers

could be a software problem? did you try a forced download?

Yes. I tried forced download but no improvement.
I visited local dealer today and agreed to sell Sky +
box and quad LNB for €299 with self installation.
He said there will be no problem activating but have to
get a new card for sky +. Is this correct. ??
    Thanks

No the existing card will be used in the Sky+ box. You will have to ring Sky to get them to activate the Sky+ features (recording / live pause / etc). If you are going to keep your existing box and want to use it for a mirror subscription then you will have to get a new card but the new card will be for the old box.
