Cheap spots in UK (esp clothes etc)?

I remember aages ago reading about some place in the UK that has manufacturer retail outlets, comparatively cheap but genuine stuff like clothes and footwear. Anyone know where this is? I quite fancy a day-or-two trip might as well make it worth it :)

It looks like everything that god-forsaken place near Portlaoise wanted to be. I'll be heading up there this Saturday for a looksee, I'll let you know the craic after that.
