will sky sports extra be going on ntl anytime soon? or is it a sky digital only channel. They show the matches on it the odd time dont they? 1 other one i used to watch the odd time on sky was trouble (2 guys a girl and a pizza place - great show) any sign of that?

Is a Sky digital only channel thats why its called Sky Sports extra.

Not quite. NTL UK have negotiated rights to carry it.

I emailed NTL (Dublin) a short time ago and they have indicated that we should have it by the start of the next English Football season. Interactivity is another kettle of fish, however.

which bit refers to the sky only? the sky sports, no cos there all called sky sports. The extra doesnt indicate its sky only either.

The interactive isnt a big issue for me, just dont want to miss any matches, hate seeing ads for stuff i cant watch

do ntl make you sign up for a year? Nothing was said on the phone and its supposed to be getting installed in the morning. I have every intention of chucking it back at them if the signal is constantlycrap and dropping out. A friend has it a couple of months and the signal has gone completely a few times for a couple of hours at a times.

You have to sign up for the basic digital package for 12 months (€12/month), but you can turn the movies and/or sports on or off on a monthly basis.

What about Chorus digital has anybody got a link to the channel line up on their epg how does it compair to ntl?

Right got NTL installed this morning, Box is very basci, 1 Scart, 1 RF in and a Telephone connection. Only thing I dont like is the remote, Its a small silver 1, can I buy the other purple 1 somewhere or do I (as explained in another thread) have to "break" or "lose" the crappy one? Are they sold in the shops like the sky Remote?

AFAIK the only place you can get them is from ntl themselves, they cost about €25, but if you can prove to them that your one is broken, you get a free replacement.

AFAIK, there is a 7 day "cooling off" period with digital whereby if you signup, and feel that the signal is very poor, channels quality is crap etc. etc. when you can give it back to them within a week, and they will refund your installation charges, subs etc.

The picture quality is a bit crap tbh. Because the box doesnt have a coax through-put the signal has to be split, one goes to the box then out of the box to tv via the scart. the other goes straight to the tv. i bypassed the splitter and the signal seems a little bit better. The pixilisation is very noticable on dark images, kind of like a downloaded movie (mot that I engage in such activity or condone it):D .
