myself and my bro got an ipod each but we onyl have one desktop. The problem being that with iTunes you can only synch it with one ipod. So if i synch it with mine it wont pick up my brothers one. Has anyone been able to get this to work or knows of a way how to?
I was thinking that turning off auto-synch would work but i cant find it on iTunes

    Thanks

Use iTunes, it's the best ipod software by far.

When an ipod is connected, select it in the source list on the left of the screen. Then click the ipod icon that appears in the bottom right. A window containing ipod options will pop up. Select "Manually manage songs and playlists". You'll proabably have to do this for both ipods.

Now the ipods won't auto-sync and you can add/remove songs and playlists by manually dragging them to the ipod window.

    Hope this helps.

Had the same problem heres the solution i found...

Sadly, there doesn't appear to be any clever software to deal with this situation. The solution is all down to manual management.

First off, each iPod needs to have its auto-syncing switched off (I believe you access this preference through iTunes when iPod connected). Each user can then choose which playlists to upload to their iPod. Each person could have their own Playlist within iTunes, and as they add their new songs, they just need to make sure that they go into their playlist.

Some people go one step further - they create a custom Genre setting with their name, then they choose that Genre for each song that they rip in. Finally they build a Smart Playlist rule that automatically captures any songs with their "name tag". This is the more robust approach, as playlists are easy to delete/mess up.

That's it really. Just low-tech management. Two PCs, one iPod, that's where the real challenge lies..
