    for anyone who still has "doubts"
    An American news agency says it has seen official papers suggesting that prisoner abuse in Iraq took place at four sites other than Abu Ghraib.

    so atleast 4 sites where there is evidence, how much more in other places?
    At Camp Whitehorse near Nasiriya, guards were allegedly told to prepare prisoners for interrogation by keeping them in hoods in temperatures of up to 49C degrees (120F) for 50 minutes at a time over periods of 10 hours. One Iraqi detainee choked to death.

    they spin this as "hooding prisoners isn't torture", it bloody well is in that heat.
    At a camp near Qaim, interrogators allegedly stuffed an Iraqi general into a sleeping bag, sat on his chest and covered his mouth. Maj Gen Abed Hamed Mowhoush, who had also been questioned by CIA operatives, eventually died.

    and guantanemo is no different...
    Military records state the victim, named as Nagem Sadoon Hatab, died when a marine guard grabbed his throat in an attempt to move him, accidentally breaking a bone which cut off his air supply.

    wtf? how can you accidentaly break someone's neck??? yes I can see how this happened accidentaly. Interstingly enough the soldier hasn't been charged with murder, so much for good old american justice.

    war crimes tribunal for rumsie and bush plskthx

    Sadly none of this is surprising in this context;
    "Simply stated, the culture of sadistic and malicious violence that continues to pervade the ... prison system violates contemporary standards of decency."

    That conclusion, written by Judge William Wayne Justice, does not describe Abu Ghraib in Iraq last fall, but the Texas prison system in 1999 when George W. Bush was still governor there.

    In September of 1996, for example, guards at the Brazoria county jail in Texas staged a drug raid on inmates that was videotaped for training purposes. The tape showed several inmates forced to strip and lie on the ground. A police dog attacked several prisoners; the tape clearly showed one being bitten on the leg. Guards prodded prisoners with stun guns and forced them to crawl along the ground. Then they dragged injured inmates back to their cells.

    In recent years, U.S. prison inmates have been beaten with fists and batons, stomped on, kicked, shot, stunned with electronic devices, doused with chemical sprays, choked, and slammed face first onto concrete floors by the officers whose job it is to guard them. Inmates have ended up with broken jaws, smashed ribs, perforated eardrums, missing teeth, burn scars—not to mention psychological scars and emotional pain. Some have died.

    No he didn't. The original story was a windup. That site says he also banned Camcorders at weddings.

    However what is scary is that a lot of prisoners the US is no longer giving details for.
