Sport on RTE

    Hi
I know its de rigeur to knock RTE but I have to say that recently I've been fairly impressed with RTE's sports coverage, and was wondering if anyone else felt they were after making a big effort the last while. The formula 1 coverage is pretty good these days - RTE used ot only get interviews w/ Jordan but there are ex-Jordan drivers and tech staff all over the pit now so they cover a good x-section of the grid these days.
Football-wise, The Premiership is class - we get to see the ball before going to the pub, and next year we'll even get live Saturday matches every couple of weeks. And Premiership Gold is starting up for the summer. If they get the Ireland internationals back at the end of Sky's current deal that'd be the icing on the cake. Have to say I'm v surprised, when you watch a match on Tv3 you really see how much better RTE is. Even the Euro 2004 ad(with all the old footage of Voller, Platini etc.) is class, whats going on?

Cant agree! Formula One coverage will be pants until Peter Collins moves on the Premiership is too short really though the anylisis (sp) is fine. I hope they have a good panel for Euro 2004. On other sports - golf coverage is just the worst possible Myles Dungan droning on while the Ynaks are on thier 3758th ad break (you can't beat the beeb for golf even if Peter Aliss rambles off on strange tangents now and again!). Can't comment on GAA/Horses etc as I dont watch.

I think they do rugby better than anyone else.

    Mike.
