Anyone here interested in 3D modelling for a HL2 mod?
If you'd like to showcase your talent in a mod, or just get involved in a modelling project, then post here.
Artistic creativity isn't essential, just familiarity with 3D modelling software. Most models will be based on everyday objects, so the design and dimensions are pre-determined.

Softimage|XSI 4.0 is available for making HL2 models:

I'm gonna start modelling again when HL2 comes out. Try and get a mod done maybe.

    Great stuff!
It's good to see people interested in 3D modelling, most guys go straight for mapping (myself included).

    DRakE,
Let us know how you get on with Softimage. It's a slimmed-down version of the software used by Valve to create the HL2 models, so it should be capable of producing high-polygon models.

I'm more of a 3dmax person, I find XSI's interface horribly convoluted... although afaik - smd exporters will be made available for max aswell.
I suppose it's just a matter of sitting through tutorials to find out where everything is, but it's almost like starting from scratch.... "oh joy! lets model a low poly torch"
