dual layer dvd writer firemware

has anyone flashed their dvd writer to burn dual layer media ?
i got a Liteon SOHW-812S recently and flashed it with the Sony DRU-700A VY02 Firmware
as you can see here

dvd info says it accepts dvd+r dl but as there wont be any dl media avilable for a while i cant test

but the flash seems to have worked out perfect
everything else works like it should i just need some dl media now

it should be its the same as the sony just differnt firmware

and no it wont work on the 811s

well not worth doing for a while now
no dual layer media yet, when it does come out it will be very expensive
and the dual layer drives can only write at x 2.4 thats 45 mins to write a 8.5 gb dual layer disc

By the time DL media becomes affordable and available, i think you'll be needing a new 16x DVD+-R drive, which burns DL at 4x/8x aswell.

In other words, there's no point in flashing it, unless you really do have 45 mins per disc to waste

well with smart burn that isnt a big problem you can do other stuff on your pc while it burns
