He's got one of those names that sounds much better with a swear word in the middle. His film,Fahrenheit 9/11 , won the top award at the Cannes film festival. Now I don't hate Michael Moore. He can be quite funny sometimes and his books are the only thing that will get me off to sleep on long flights. But there is one inescapable truth about Michael Moore; when he's over here in Europe, he loves to portray Americans as being rich, fat, ignorant, lazy and condescending. This is a sure way to win the hearts and minds of European plebs. However, we Europoeans are apparently famous for our love of irony and whilst he's here berating his countrymen, some of us are actually picturing his pig-like body rolling around on a bed of $100 bills, blissfully unaware that we're laughing at him - not with him.

A rich, fat, condescending yank complaining about all the rich, fat, condescending yanks back home? How can that not be funny?

Haha. I'm actually quite curious to see that film of his, just how damning is it? Probably not damning enough to dispose him of power unfortunately. Christian conservatives will vote for him no matter what I'd say - "he promised to burn them queers".

Michael Moore is not blindly critical of fat, rich Americans. It's of how many of those people act. He's made a very good living doing what he does, but he has struggled with it. He could have made a lot more money if he'd gone down a different route of film making, he has enough talent and drive to do so. He's an example of someone who has put his money where his mouth is, and I respect him for that alone.

so anyone seen it, i coudlnt believe it when he won...

    sceptical myself....

but reading the newspapers articles on him winning i came across

the he loaded thing and lives in the lap of luxury which i can't refute

the what a surpirse a french, film contests gives a prize to an anti-bush film... (but infact they were more americans on the jury then french)

tarentino says that they gave him the prize cos it was the best bit of filmaking of the year....

the only reason i can think of them giving it to them was as i read that the first half of the film is him describing bush very much in the bowling fashion but the second half theres les of him and first videos of injured americans bitterly criticsing the reason the bush administration gave for going to war... and that perhaps is the reason it won.... also another reason why it might have won is cos im told there very little of moore in it (and his doorstepping) he simply lets bush talk for himself....

ie he spent 42% of the months before 9/11 on vacation(new york post), 42% for busiest man in the world????? moore needn't say anything... good film
