Has the dual mandate been abolished yet? Are there any county councillers still holding out?

Is the Dual mandate for TD's and MEPs gone too?

As best I know it's all gone. The only things that councillors, TDs, Senators, MEPs or the President can double job on are town (or borough) councillors can also be county councillors.

Of course they will still be on all sorts of committees and boards and stuff and will be able to keep running their own businesses (except ministers who have to give up all their day to day involvement in business, the President also has to give up certain private positions).

It's abolition is welcome. It was being used by certain peopel to intercede on behalf of local corrupt property developers to try to get bylaws passed to assist corrupt planning decisions.

They should automatically loose their Dail seats if elected.
How can they do 2 full time jobs, one in europe and one in Dublin?

according to morning ireland this morning, there are 10 sitting TD's up for Euro seats. Brain Crowley (Munster) said he will 'see how things work out' if he gets elected, but will not resign his Dail Eireann seat if elected to Strasburg, he will see out the remaining term of his Dail seat.

Simon Coveney? Crowley isn't a TD.

President can't double job on anything.. Article 12.6.3° of the Constitution prohibits it.
