For anyone who's interested there's a game of Texas Hold Em happening in the Buttery bar in Trinity college this Wednesday at 7.30pm. It's a €10 freezeout and apparently they should get 60/70 players most of whom would be at the crap end of the scale. I've no more details than the above which came from a flyer so don't blame me if you win and find out the money's going to charity or somethin :) I'll be going along myself - strictly for kicks though am finished exams that afternoon so don't expect i'll be in much state to be making out cards, never mind playing them :)

Anyone know any more about this? 10 freezeout isnt going to make for a big payout as *someone* will be taking a chunk out of it I bet....

All the same might be a laugh...

I could be tempted by this, do you have to be/know a current trinity student? or will being a graduate do the job?
Hopefully the phrase "fish in a barrel" will be applicable, moreso if DeV's going :)

you don't have to be a trinity student, and they only pay out the top three, so the money can be quite big. they've only done two so far, but each of them have been packed to the rafters and the money has been somewhere in the region of 3-4 hundred for first place.

problem is that the powers that be in trinity don't particularly want money to be won through gambling, so actually getting cash in hand should you win is a bit up in the air at the moment. the last guys that won it took the money in the form of vouchers, and one guy allowed the card soc to pay a bill for him. It's weird, but it's possible that they have it sorted out now.

The standard has gotten better since the first night they had, but most of the entrants that are actually from trinity are still fish. towards the end the standard is comparable to the fitz freeze-out, if a little bit easier.

I'll be there, I seek revenge for having my aces cracked by queens to put me out in twelfth place last time.
it's a good night anyway (and you can drink!).

generally you do need a student card to get into the buttery, which is where it is on. they don't have anyone on the door till later in the evening, so you should be fine to get in. you can also get in with another trinity student. Myself and quite a few of my mates who play poker will be about, if anyone is worried that they might not get in (not that you should be worried), PM me and I'll give you my phone no. to call on the night should you have a problem.

Agony, especially with all the unattributed 'facts' that you know who is spouting.

yes, I play poker (if you can call it play) I was the guy at Table 2 at the Fitz on Weds, getting rebuys after rebuys. I got hammered by the Royal Flush if you were on that table...

You should consider joining the BSOP, 1 or possible 2 "friendly" home games per month in a league format. Give it a go.

His posts make me soooo angry. How is it even possible to ignore what other people are posting so consistently?
