memory upgrade

I want to run VMware more and try out PearPC. Current performance is slightly sluggish for both, and I'd like to upgrade RAM first and then maybe the processor. I currently have (copied from online komplett receipt):
    	1.00 109008 DDR-DIMM PC2700 256MB DDR CL2.5
    	Generic Memory 184-P (for DDR-PC333MHz)

Motherboard is a MSI KT4V-L (MS-6712), and has three DIMM sockets. Not knowing much about RAM I thought I'd ask here. First off, can I stick in a 512Mb/1Gb DIMM beside the existing one? Or does it have to be another 256Mb stick?

Secondly whats the differnce between, for example, PC133 and the above PC2700? Do I have to get another PC2700 or can I get any type of DDR DIMM?

Finally any specific recomendations of what to get? crucial.com recommends the following:
    1GB — CT12864Z265 DDR PC2100 CL=2.5 Non-parity US $249.99 (each)
    1GB — CT12864Z335 DDR PC2700 CL=2.5 Non-parity US $271.99 (each)
    1GB — CT12864Z40B DDR PC3200 CL=3 Non-parity US $389.99 (each)
     512MB — CT6464Z335 DDR PC2700 CL=2.5 Non-parity US $99.99 (each)
    512MB — CT6464Z265 DDR PC2100 CL=2.5 Non-parity US $100.99 (each)
    512MB — CT6464Z40B DDR PC3200 CL=3 Non-parity US $105.99 (each)
    256MB — CT3264Z265 DDR PC2100 CL=2.5 Non-parity US $55.99 (each)
    256MB — CT3264Z40B DDR PC3200 CL=3 Non-parity US $57.99 (each)
    256MB — CT3264Z335 DDR PC2700 CL=2.5 Non-parity US $57.99 (each)

I may not buy from crucial, seeing as the local PC World seems to have some cheap memory at the moment, but I'd like to know what specifically I'm looking for? Whats CL=3 or CL-2.5 in the above? Should I get PC2700 again? etc.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Your mobo is socket A (athlon, duron, athlon xp) and runs max of 333FSB. This means that your current memory (PC2700) is a good fit. You can stick any DDR memory in your remaining slots, but if it is slower than pc2700, ALL memory will run slower and if it is higher, ALL memory will just run PC2700. Same applies to the latency (CL2.5)

The best value for money is to get a stick of 512MB of the same generic memory with the same laceny from komplett
