I noticed that too, the TV guides have Gaelic football on but the Sky card has the Manchester run on.

Maybee its the old rights issue thing, Setanta must have the rights for showing the games in pubs and clubs in the UK

rights prevent the BBC from showing the GAA on DSat. as has been pointed out, Setanta hold the rights for Great Britain

One slight addendum... rights prevent the BBC from showing the GAA on DSat FTA... They did show games when encrypted.

Good to see you're back TippTop :D:D:D

Usually, you can get different types of sports eg. soccer, gaelic & hurling, rugby on at the same time on the regional variations. Maybe the gaelic was for BBC One Scotland or Wales and you were watching BBC One NI, or vice versa?

    Not in this case, PK.

Normally BBC 2 NI on DSat refers back to whatever is being shown on the networked BBC 2. BBC NI only have the rights to terrestrial or cable for Northern Ireland, they could have (and did) the satellite rights when the BBC was encrypted. But now the BBC is FTA on satellite, and Setanta own the rights for the rest of the UK. That BBC 2 NI dont show the games was done on Setanta's bidding, as they're selling GAA games on satellite themselves.

Jesus, there's so many bloody different bbc ones and bbc twos I haven't a clue whats going on!!! What's BBC 2 NI and Networked BBC 2? What's the difference? I'm totally confused here :confused:

Networked BBC 2 is the standard BBC 2 everyone gets, England, Scotland Wales etc... until they "opt-out" of the network and show something they want to show to their region.

In this case, BBC 2 in Northern Ireland left the network BBC 2 and showed the Armagh game. BBC 2 in the rest of the UK showed something that we would've watched (in this case the Great Manchester Run) while we who can get BBC 2 NI watched the GAA.

Another example is notice how BBC 2 in Wales (BBC 2W) is different most evenings on satellite.

    Simple enough really.

Thanks for the replies, to sum up basically you are saying that

    1. GAA is only available on terrestrial television in the north
    2. BBC2 NI is actually showing the standard BBC schedule when a match is on
    3. There is no hope of getting the ulster football unless you can receive BBC2 NI through a standard arial.
