I bought a Trust usb to usb connection in Compustore. It comes with its own software and the transfer isnt that slow actually. I transfered like 15GB and it didnt take that long. Cant remember exactly how long it took though. Anyhoo, it can be done.

USB2 i hope. If its USB1, you'll be leaving it a fairly long time for 15gb's. But yeah, USB2 would be the best way in your situation. Its relatively cheap, and guarenteed to work on any USB compatible computer.

is the software on the net anywhere. is it just a standard usb cable?

Well its compatible with USB1.0 and USB2.0. I had one machine with 2.0 and another with 1.0 compatibality. I'm sure if I had used networking it would be faster but the other machine did not have any network port so this was my only option.

The software I got with the cable is PC-Linq. Not sure whether you can find it on the net. I didnt look it up. Its not a standard USB cable per say. Its a USB to USB cable.

Alternatively you can but a USB Ethernet adaptor. Just plug it into your USB port and plug a crossover cable in and connect it to the other PC.
