Dumb Question about taxi meters

    Im pretty sure the taxi's at the airport are robbing people left right and center.

    What should the meter read when you get into the cab?

    The taxi I got today read €3.00 on the main meter and €2 on the extra's before leaving the airport rank. It was just after 11.30pm and I had a tiny rucksack which the cabbie didnt touch.

    Was I robbed?

    I also rememer a cabbie telling be about the fact that soon they would have to give receipts by law. Is this still coming in?

    That sounds about right. The base fare is €3.50 (€3.00 + €0.50), plus the €1.50 charge for operating from the airport.

    Of course most of the bus services from the airport cost this or less for the full journey.

    Aircoach is actually €7 (€12 return). UrBus is only €3.20.

    Actually aircoach is lot cheaper if you're staff ;) Unfortunately Swords isnt that well served at 11.30pm. Especially if you have had a few and just want to go home :D
