    I'm getting the above message when trying to boot a compaq n610c laptop. Any ides on how to solve this problem. It only gives me an option to press f1 to ignore it.

    buy a new harddrive.

    It sounds like your harddrive is dying. If the smart tags are showing failure, then it is probably close to dying completely.
