DVD Burner OEM or Retail

    I am thinking of getting a NEC ND2500A buner form overclockers see www.overclockers.co.uk They have 2 versions - OEM and Retail. Can anyone tell me the difference between them apart from the pirice - the OEM is £25 cheeper!

    the retail version will be in the same packaging as a drive that you'd buy in a shop such as compustore/pcworld etc etc.
    the oem will come in an ugly cardboard box and possibly have no software bundled (unless otherwise stated)

    go for the oem drive:)

    Retail comes bundled with a fancy box, a big load of manuals in a whole pile of different languages, device drivers, and some full version burning software.

    OEM comes in a plactic bag with a CD with shareware software, and maybe some drivers if you're lucky.

    It depends on what you want. I'd go for OEM, because I'd use my own choice of software anyway, and don't require manuals (read; wouldn't bother reading a manual anyway).

    I think I got the OEM one because mine just came on a cardboard box that isnt fully seal and thats about it :) But still it works like a charm so far :)
