    Hi,

At 10pm tonight 19th May the following message appeared on ITV, CH4 and
CH5......This viewing card is not authorised, call the broadcaster for
    assistance.

I reveived the card (new type) in December from www.free2view.tv

Anybody have any ideas as to what may have happened, could it be a
    software glitch?

When did you last use it? It may have deactivated if not in use.

Leave it in the box, powered on or in standby mode, for at least 48 hours, it should reactivate by itself

    Hi
thanks for reply. I use it every day, no problems until tonight.
Have reset box but no luck.

    Thats a strange one,

Have you got it in a dedicated box, or do you swap it with an Irish sub card?

Was the phoneline left connected to the box while the FTV card was in use at any stage?

The box was procured in UK couple of years ago, and never connected to
phone line. Card had worked ok since last December until tonight.
    Maybe card has gone faulty.

Ok, its time to dig out your details you used to obtain the card and ring the number on the website, I think they still have a line open for problems or faults with cards, taking the usual care not to reveal your location etc.

It may rectify itself but try going into the Installation Menu (Services,4,01,Select,New Installation) and go through the process.

Let us know how you get on.

I had this problem a few weeks ago. Not Resolved Yet!

Exactly the same thing happened. Eventually I rang the freetoview number in the UK and they posted me a new card to a UK address. No problem so far.

I got into trouble when I rang again to activate the new card. They spotted that I was calling from Ireland and would not activate me. They told me to call from a UK land-line with my number not withheld.

My UK address belongs to a work colleague from the UK and I can't really ask him to call to activate the card from UK.

Is there anyone in UK reading this who could call for me to activate the card?

    Max

I will try and get a replacement card from freeview.
Regarding activation, when I got the present card from freeview no
activation was required and a few friends that got the same cards also
did not need to activate their cards. As far as I know all the cards
issued by freeview were self activating.

True, most cards issued directly from the Free2View website were self activating, but a replacement card will almost certaintly not self activate, so be prepared for having it activated by phone.Your contact in the UK may have to actually make the call.

As it is not a big call centre anymore, and possibly just a dedicated phoneline in an office somewhere, people have reported that the operator is much more picky and pays attention to detail such as caller id and witheld numbers etc, since the scheme ended in Jan.Before hand it was easier to get away with stuff as they were handling so many cards and calls.

Max, a word of warning, your call will need to be made from the same areacode relevant to the postcode they have issued your card to- This is what they are looking for-so a general request for someone to activate the card is not enough. If that was the case, you could take a day trip to the North and ring them up from there.Again, your best bet is to offer your colleague a few pints or in someway appeal to his better nature, to make the call for you.
