Welcome to the Magic board, please stay.

Info on the Fifth Dawn Prereleases is here: Fifth Dawn Prerelease Schedule . Though what Irish events are doing on the UK page is beyond me.

it says it's teh 23rd on magicireland.com and i'm pretty sure that's the proper date. I've asked them to clarify it, should know by later today for sure

it's definitely the 23rd. here are the details:

    Date: Sunday May 23rd 2004.
Location: Trinity Capital Hotel, Pearse Street, Dublin.
    Entry: EUR25
Start Time: Doors open at 10:30 am, with registration closing at 11:15 am.

Paying for this tournament entitles you to 1 Tournament pack of Mirrodin,
and 3 boosters of 5th Dawn, the newest magic set. Each entrant will also
receive a specially stamped premium "Helm of Kaldra" card.

As this is a prerelease, this is the first opportunity you will have in
Dublin to see the cards from this set, and to receive some of your own.

In addition, we will be running drafts both of straight 5th dawn, and of
mirrodin/darksteel/5th dawn - your only opportunity for sanctioned 5th
dawn play before the national championships.

    So come along everybody.

hello to all the regular boards.ie - magic the gathering players.

i was one of the many attending the dublin prerelease - 62 people methinks?

i had a great time - didn't do too bad (at least i'm not last )

    :D

the fifth dawn cards are so cool!

oh - and by the way - does anyone know if you have to preregister to attend the wednesday night magic events?

i e-mailed the contact e-mail listed on the magicireland site but didn't get a reply

    :(

lo khalim, i think i know who you were. You were wearing a yellow t shirt yeah? You don't need to pre register for the wednesday night magic events, just turn up and you should be able to draft. Just make sure you get there early enough because the first 8 people to arrive who want to draft get the drafting spots. I thought the event was amazing, never thought there'd be so many people there, was really happy with my result too :) never thought i'd make 9th place. In total i got 11 fifth dawn boosters :D

    :D wow that was amazing

just wondering, how did you guess it was me tho?

while we're on it, what else is there on wednesday night magic aside from drafts?

i've played you before :) Aside from the draft on wedesdays theres usually a gang of people playing with their own constructed decks.

hey folks - glad to see there was a good response to the pre-release - 62 players (and we had to turn away another 8 who arrived too late), and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Looking forward to the next one, getting a completely new set is even more ridiculous :)

If anyone had any questions about upcoming events, feel free to let me know and I'll get back on to you as soon as I can

Are there generally many contructed events during the year? apart from the nats

    edit; type 2 that is...

Most of them are limited - most people seem to prefer it. The next ptq season will be block constructed and there are 2 ptqs around Ireland for that one. Might be worth having a look into them?

hmmm might do, prefer type 2 but block's alright too i guess!

    cheers!

First ptq is ~end of July, in Galway (no excuse not to travel from may...)

Second one is in Belfast a few weeks after that.

actually it looks like i'll be fine for constructed now. Only missing 3 glimmervoids, others are a few commons i should come by easily. Only problem is that people are quite attached to their glimmervoids, no one will trade them. I mihgt be able to get a loan of 3 for the day of the ptq though like last time.
