I see there is a consultation process underway - deadline for responses Friday May 28th.

    Details from the City Council

    Not very widely publicised methinks.

now this is the most sensible traffic managment i have ever seen from dublin corpo!!!

BUT the only place you can go from Cuff street is Dawson street!!! nowhere else at all?
Now i am no expert but if they changed the bus lane on leeson street for normal traffic and allowed one lane to use this it should alievate the problem of all traffic from cuff st having to go back to pearse street via dawson street!!!
This means no access south at any point!!

    I just dont get it!!

And Nassau Street, Westland Row, Merrion Square and all points beyond. Just double back on Molesworths Street for Merrion Row and Baggot Street.

This would congest the Leeson St / Stephen's Green Junction too much.

Actually i made a submission on this plan and was told that this was a major flaw, and if the plan is made 'more permenant' this issue will be looked at.

Yes ictor, you are right you can go to Nassau Street, Westland Row, Merrion Square but as i pointed out none of these are south!! and to get to leeson st you have to travel via all of the above!! A bit pointless sending traffic around in circles???

you end up on the Green North at two diffrent stages on this route, and with dublin traffic its probably about 10 mins later too!!

the map on that link is one of the worst I've ever seen

not only is it extremely difficult to read but they've got the key the wrong way round!! The broken lines represent the proposed flow, not the existing flow. Great work there DCC.

Also - its not true that traffic from cuffe st. can only go up dawson st
it can't even go up dawson st - SG west will be access only - anyone arriving at the green off cuffe st will have to head towards the surgeons car park.

Ok smart guy , here is my starting and finishing points; tell me your best route as the ones suggested so far would add so much extra time...
    Caple St to Donnybrook.

Making it easy aren't you. :D

    Parliament Street
    Cork Hill
    Werburgh Street
    Bride Street
    Hetyebury Street
    Harrington Street
    Bleeding Horse
    Charlemont Street*
    Grand Parade*
    Sussex Road
    Morehampton Road

    * Alternate via Hatch Street and Adelaide Road.

    OR

    Parliament Street
    Lord Edward Street
    New Street
    Patrick Street
    Clanbrassil Street
    Canal
    Sussex Road
    Morehampton Road

OR Go to O'Connell Bridge and follow directions in previous post, but it would probably be slower.

Have tried this way but you get seriously stuck in traffic from end of Bride Street on!!
    Parliament Street
    Lord Edward Street
    New Street
    Patrick Street
    Clanbrassil Street
    Canal
    Sussex Road
    Morehampton Road

Closer to my route now but clanbrassil st and canal in the morning time??? Have you ever tried this, its like the bleedin M50 carpark!!

Here is what i do currently

    Parliament Street
    Dame St
    Trintiy St
    William St South
    Mercer St
    Suffe St
Around the Green West and North
    Merrion Row
    Pembroke St onto
    Leeson St
    and Straight to Donnybrook

Now the ONLY place where i even slow down for traffic is coming onto Cuffe St sometimes as traffic can build up.

This journey takes approx 20mins in the morning by car. The routes you have suggested have taken me quite a while longer but nonetheless i will try one of them tomorrow morning as i would welcomingly be proved wrong if it helps me getout of traffic quicker,

    cheers Victor!!
    M

Oh, how about getting a bus?

    BUS?? In this city??

Take the 10 mins to walk to O'Connell St. Wait for the 46x to decide to come along (supposed to be every 8 mins) This takes between 45 and 60 mins to reach donnybrook!!)

Thats what is wrong with the bus!!

I suspect DCC are hoping you would go
    North Quays
    Matt Talbot Bridge and e.g
    Westland Row
    Merrion Square etc...

    Do you ever try that?

Yes that map is awful. So awful in fact, that I thought I could a better one in mspaint for phase 1. And I did, although there may be one or two errors (like, I think traffic will be two way between Glovers alley and Kildare st, but I don't see why it would be).

But eh, yeah, attached :D It's very very rough, but it makes more sense then theirs.

Edit: See lower down for map

Not bad Seamus but a couple of comments
there will be no right turn up Earlsfort Tce from Green South. If you are mad enought to go into Cuffe St at all you have no option to get off the green until you get to Dawson St
and your plan give the impression cars will be able to turn right up green east as they do at the moment. This will be bus only.

Only between Glovers alley and Dawson Street - for access for Stephens Green North to the car parks and for egress from Grafton Street for deliveries. There is hope for some arrangement for taxis (it's likely to be too tight for buses to turn there).

Absolute crap. I regularly get a bus on this route home at the height of rush hour and rarely is there more than 5 minutes between buses and journey time from O'Connell street to Donnybrook is more like 20-25 minutes

Why would you go to O'Connell St? Go to the stop between Kildare and Dawson St. The 46a comes once every 5 minutes, and then takes about 25-30 minutes (in very heavy traffic) to get to Donnybrook.
If a 46a has just left, you can be pretty sure that one of the other busses - 10 for example - will be along soon.

Maybe you're getting the wrong bus.
