    Hi Lads

I have a friend in work who is from France.
It's not that bad though as he has developed a strong Dungarvan accent but now he longs for news from home.

He is looking to set up an analouge Sat. system.
the system was bought from Lidl last year and he has been able to get the German TV but he wants to get the french stuff.

The Video Encryption is SECAM and he is using the Lidl system with an ordinary Irish TV.

    Will this Work?

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thanks,
    Eóin

Have a friend in Kerry who's wife is french - he manged to get French channels (better reception than his father in laws terrestrial set up in France) with the Lidl system in west Kerry so your friend should have no problems. He's using an Irish spec TV via scart

I'll try to get more details from him.

Should work with the scart socket although he will have to re direct his dish to 5w Atlantic bird. I am assuming you are using the Lidl analogue receiver and not the digital one?

    Good luck

Analog receivers don't usually do RGB so even on SCART it will be mono, not colour, unless it is a Thompson Brand or similar TV with SECAM.

The sound on the Analog Sat receiver needs changed to J11 (?) setting on menu as otherwise it is distorted. The audio frequencies may also be different, but most analog satalletite receivers do have the required settings.

Does this mean that if he has the Sat. pointing in the right direction he will get Balck and white picture with Mono sound.

BTW he has a Philips TV.

Another thing is he can only enter 4 numbers in the search frequency.

I have not seen it myself and tbh i hve no idea what this box is like.

    Thanks,

Here's what my friend had to say - he's got a Sony TV - PAL only as far as I know. He gets a clour picture - not sure whether sound is mono or stereo

the french channels are available on box channels 136-140 only
aim the satellite south at a low angle (just above horizontal) and jiggle around
    connection is via scart
tv1, f2,arte,m6,f3 are available, perfect reception

    Hope that helps
