    Hello,

there's a broken toilet where I work, it is unflushable at the moment, however, somebody decided to use it. It now contains what seems to be a large amount of matter (you can probably guess what kind). This has been the case for the past month or so. I do not know why this toilet has not been cleaned or fixed.

Could somebody please let me know all the health implications from leaving a toilet filled with fecal matter unflushed for such a long time.

    Cheers

It would probably be a bit stinky. Apart from that unless you mistake it for the wash hand basin you shouldn't be at too much of a risk. all imho of course, I'm no expert on things that are full of shit.

Depends what you do with it, they should definitely have someone out to treat it as its a breach of public health in the work place.

Off hand the ones I could think of would be Shigellosis (Dysentery), Poliomyelitis, Hep A, any number of gastro related diseases, Encephalitis, Cryptosporidiosis and bacterial gastro infections (E. Coli, Campy).

Children and pregnant women are most at risk.

Pour a bucket of water down...

If you can't get the stuff they use in chemical toilets (camping stores) try bleach at least .

Health implications - guess where most internal parasites lay thier eggs ?
Can you guarantee that no flies go from A to B ?
