OK - I have two questions, but here is some background first... I'm interested in getting sky digital so that I can throw those muppets from Chorus out, but I also want the ability to watch 2 different channels on 2 TVs in the house, so after a lot of deliberation I've decided to go for the following...

    1 x SKY Digital setup
1 x SKY+ Setup (which means I get to use the original decoder on 2nd tv).
Quad LNB + Phone hookup + all the usual installation stuff.
I know the 1st month is everything (61 euro, zillions of channels etc.) but I intend to drop it down to either just the basic service or the basic + movies after the one month is up.

The costs as I understand it break down as follows:-

Installation + equipment = 429 euro. My understanding is that I will get the original decoder box, the new sky+ box, the Quad LNB and the phone hookup/installation all in for the 429 price.

Question 1: Is this a good price?

    On to the second question...

I'm trying to choose the best package going forward, but I'm getting confused about the monthly costs (because of the second decoder and the implications of sky+ and whether I'm over some limit or not).

I know the first month will be expensive because I have to take ALL the channels, but I intend to drop them from month 2 forward, however the question is what will my monthly costs be going forward for both options below:-

    Option 1: Basic Service / Sky+ / Mirror Card
    Option 2: basic + movies / Sky+ / Mirror Card.

    Thanks for the assist.

AFAIK its slighly cheaper at present with the current promotion although not all dealers are doing this for reasons I wont go into right now.

Sky + box is 299 including quad and digibox is free, installs at 10x 2 so if i'm not mistaken your total should be 319, promotion code is

"LROI E10D must be quoted on the Sky Contract for each customer taking
up the Installation Offer on minidish and digibox"

"LROI E10P must be quoted on the Sky Contract for each customer taking
up the Installation Offer on Sky+"
10 EURO INSTALLATION DEAL ON SKY and SKY+
    EXTENDED UNTIL JUNE 3RD.

    Hope this helps

You don't have to get the €61 package, just a world package. So if you want the movies like you said, Movie World at €52 is sufficient to get cheap insatallation.

By the way, the price you mentioned is a rip off. It should only be €309. That's what I was charged from a Sky install. Sky+ in one room and a digibox in another.

When they say "world" package they mean 1a to 6a so
€58 euro is the cheapest you can go for the first month AFAIK to take advantage of cheap installation

How about an "upgrade" to Sky Plus (already have a dish, digibox and full Sky World package)... how much would that set me back? :)

299 + install (usually 75 but depends on retailer)

    Tony,

where do you recommend I purchase the sky+/digibox/lnb (inc. installation) setup from for that price?

I was going to go to the local crew here in the village (Malahide, North Dublin), but from what you are telling me either they are clueless or just overcharging. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry I cant answer that as I am in the trade myself. The local crew may have given up on the special offers as I have because sky are not paying up the balance so i would not be too harsh on them. For example sky want us to claim 12 euro back from them for dish and lnb yet we cannot buy them for anywhere near that price.

Sorry I cant be of more help

    Fair enough. Two things then...

    1) Since you have been so helpful and aren't soliciting by default, could you message me privately with your details

    2) I've seen something called 'SKY MULTIROOM' advertised on the box tonight, but the question is .. is this applicable in Ireland??

    Thanks in advance.
