Slow access to Windows type shares.

    Just a quick one here, when I try to access shortcuts to SMB shares from the dock there seems to be a long delay before getting the login requester, whereas if I do GO > Connect to Server its pretty quick. Anyone shed any light on this.

    Links from the dock stopped working on me, then a few days ago my lappie decided to not see the network anymore, so i sympathise etc.

    It's probably to do with te fact that the dock icon is essentially a pointer and it has to have a look around so to sepak, whereas connect to you're directly telling it where to go.

    I get what you're saying but I'm wondering if it's specific to SMB/CIFS shares as with appleshare links they're fine. I thought there was a problem with the Wins Server IP but it's working ok !!

    Still curious !

    I'm experiencing the exact same problem,
    my MSHome network showed up under network at first but now it has vanished.
    I can connect directly to the MSHome shared network using connect to server.

    Any ideas anyone as to why it isn't showing up or any ideas on how to get it to show up under network again???
