Have they announced anything about the coverage of Euro 2004?.

It was mentioned yesterday that Dennis Irwin will be on the RTE team. I haven't seen anything else yet.

Denis Irwin? Christ get the violins out. Great player but not a pundit.
Usually though RTE's coverage of events like this is usually excellent and I prefer it to the more glossy BBC/ITV coverage. There is always the possibility of an inebriated Eamon Dunphy draping himself in the Iraqi flag during one of the England games.

Denis has been on RTE's team for a few Ireland matches and he is a better pundit then any of the usuals tbh.

Not sure whether hes in the same class as Giles...
Liam Brady pisses me off to say the least, Ronnie Whelan is awful too.... :o
Dunphy and Giles is good enough for me.

it'll be the BBC all the way for me (well, when I'm not relaxing in a pool in Florida that is :) )

I did think it odd that RTE said goodbye to the premiership on Saturday without mention of the Euro 2004 coverage - they normally bend over backwards to ram whatever sports coverage they have coming up down your throat before they go.

Re: Panelists - Dunphy and Giles get my vote too. I don't mind Liam Brady (should be good if he is on the same panel as Dunphy), Ray Houghton is also good. I've seen Denis a few times (more so on Sky Sports, I think), and he definitely has potential as an analyst.

Doesn't Ronnie Whelan only work for TV3?

I wonder will Kerr join the team - his perspective would be valuable, and he worked on the last major championships. However, he did commit to not doing any major professional work outside of coaching the Irish team when he took on the task.

The BBC might be a useful choice (particularly if they offer interactive coverage and you can choose 5Live commentary), but I don't think I could watch them for long if England show any early signs of success. At least the RTE coverage will be balanced.

ITV have the first two England group games, so it can be well avoided :D
The BBC has the 3rd and quarter final (if they get through)

Houghton is good because he always diagrees with everyone else, likewise Dunphy does as well. Pricless pair :)
