You need to download a removal tool. What anti-virus do you use?

i ahve downloased the removal tool but it didn't find anything ?
and the thing is that i don't use any virus protection on the p.c .. i don't really use the p.c for the internet..

If it didn't find sasser then the problem is obviously something else. The blaster virus had similar consequences. Maybe it's that?

Does the problem only occur when you're on the Internet?

P.S. You should get some anti-virus software. There's loads of free ones out there. Try AVG. It only takes a few seconds to catch something.

i have run the removal tool for all the known virus at the moment from nortan site but nothing was found. but when i ran the tools the log file came up and said that the c:/System Volume Information ( not scanned ) ..
not sure what that means though ..

c:/System Volume Information is to do with the system restore.

Also, have you installed all of the latest patches from Windows?

joker: Cut your losses man. Backup what you need. format and re-install windows. this time-buy/download an AV package and patches for windows. (And don't forget to scan the backups)

Obviously. The telly doesn't lie. My cousin told me the other day that she hasn't used her new computer for about a week "because there's a virus going around. I'll wait a few days until it's gone." At which stage I banged her head repeatedly against the keyboard. Allll better now.
