    Hi there

am building an SFF pc bought from overclockers UK, Biostar IDEQ socket A motherboard, AMD 2500 chip.

Howeve I think I broke the CPU cooler clip retaining hole when I was taking the clips out. See picture attached.

What should I do? I suppose running without the clips firmly in place risks frying the CPU. And It was my own fault so I might not be entitled to an RMA. And Its a custom motherboard so might be hard to repair it.

tell me what should I do - before I phone overclockers/biostar?

    thanks

Lucky you. Those clips aren't reliable at the best of times, my old coolermaster clip let go more than once, resulting in deep fried processor, although fortunately the motherboard power control kicked in to avoid the processor melting into the board.

*EDIT* I now have an AMD 1900XP with a retail fan kit, and it's stuck on so tight I don't think I could remove it without actually cutting the clip off.
