Vote for your favourite overture to be played at the BBC Proms on Sat Jul 17th

    Vote here for your favourite overture from a shortlist of 12. The overture with the highest vote gets played at the Proms on BBC TV on July 12th.

    The shortlist is:
    Beethoven - Egmont
    Berlioz - Roman Carnival
    Glinka - Ruslan and Lyudmilla
    Mendelssohn - The Hebrides
    Mozart - The Marriage of Figaro
    Nikolai - Merry Wives of Windsor
    Rossini - William Tell
    Rossini - Thieving Magpie
    Smetana - Bartered Bride
    J Strauss II - Die Fledermaus
    Verdi - Force of Destiny
    Weber - Der Freischutz

    In a bit of a quandry myself as to what to vote for as "Die Meistersinger von Nurnburg" hasn't made the shortlist (what an overture!).

    Both the Rossini's suffer from overplay... so it's probably between Figaro and Forza for me.
