Can I add one of these LNB things ?

    Do I need a second dish ?

I live in Dublin. What size second dish would I need ?

Where can I buy one and will they install it ?

any help appreciated. sorry for the dumb questions.

I'm afraid a second dish is required (assuming you have a standard sky dish) or you could go for a multi lnb dish like the wave frontier

80cm is what you need for a single dish.

Afraid I cant answer your third question but i'm sure other guys here will

Yes if you can go for a second dish, even better go for a motorised one!!! I've got dishes here in Belgium but I know in good old Ireland they can be very picky with you having more than one dish!!! out of sight is always better.

I stand corrected but a 1 meter should do, 1.2 meter is better.

This guy seems to have lots of satisfied customers!!!

Let us know how you get on!!!!:) :):)

the bigger the dish, the better - I say!!!

Be warned, though, that a dish anything over 1m in diameter will require planning permission REGARDLESS of whether it is mounted on the front, side, chimney, or even rear of your house. This shouldn't pose a problem though, as many people

    a) dont bother complaining, or
    b) dont even know that they can complain!!!

You will also need planning permission, if as you seem to want, have a standard sky minidish AND a second dish.

I live in Belfast I have an 80cm dish (off a "lidl" analouge system) and a Panasonic digibox

The dish is pointed at 13E and Ive added a second LNB for 28Deg East

The whole thing is mounted on a homemade "tripod" consisting of an upside down outdoor circular clothers drier stuck into a large outdoor plant pot and filled with cement

great stuff, well done. I'm just wondering do you get any picture breakup in rain? I'm wondering whether 80cm can support both 28 and 13 all the time?

    Thanks

    Nice one Mike !

It's great to see that with all of the technology around, sometimes plain old common sense & inventiveness can still do the trick !

you need to be pointing at 1degree west and you have a viewing card then it would.

@Pal, the motor gets its power from the coaxial cable coming from the reciever (if you are using a diseqc motor)

Personally id point it at astra 19east, but then again if you get a motrosied setup you can point it wherever the hell ya choose, well within reason.

sky designed their boxes to be suitable for 28e only as they did not want people moving off that sat so they deliberately rigged the receivers to receive only in a certain frequencies eg 27500 and 22000 so although u may get some channels on 13e u will not get them all.

Look on here for all the sats and u can check out 28e with 13e and those with same symbol rates etc u can get. But only fta on 13e.
