Best driver under 150 euro is the Taylor Made R320.
    320 cc head .
I have one and it is extremely forgiving.
The sweet spot is very large and when I connect it goes well over 300 yards.
Easy club to work the ball with too.
Even if the ball comes off the toe or head it still travels along distance.
For 200 euro you could get the Taylor Made R510.(Onlinegolf.co.uk)
330cc head and was Voted best Driver over £300 of 2003 by the readers of Todays Golfer.
It has come down alot in price.
The Nike 350cc Driver is also a fine club and is available for 150 euro on onlinegolf.
Any of these 3 clubs is extremely good value and with the limit on driver heads being set at 480cc the technology is beginning to slow down.

A friend of my brothers is selling custom made clones. He meets you at a driving range and will customise it to your grip, height etc. Haven't got one off him myself but my brother got one which he's very happy with it - I know it added at least 40 yds to his drive.

Anyway you can contact him at http://www.factorygolfstore.ie.

I've hit some of these 'Clones.' There is no comparison with the real thing. Love the disclaimer at the bottom.

If you are going to spend 100+ Euro on a driver, go for a secondhand Callaway or Taylormade. The last model Wilson 'deep red' is sellling new for around 170. I believe its pretty good.

Can anyone tell me if there is going to be some sort of ban on these new drivers come 1st January 2008.
A friend of mine told me drivers over a 400cc head will be banned. Is this true, as I am just about to purchase a Nike 450cc Titanium beta Driver.
If I buy this, it won't be banned from 2008?

Its the COR that will determine if a club is legal or not. Size doesnt matter.

The COR is the trampoline like effect the club face has on the ball. The legal limit will be .830 and drivers at the moment have a COR of up to .860.

    ah right.
    I think it's ok so.
Because the forged Ti is USGA conforming

    vandeman,

I recently bought a second-hand TITLEIST 975 JVS 9.5 Degree DRIVER from ebay (club came from states). Including shipping it cost me a total of EUR140. I wanted a nice driver but I wasn't going to pay 400-500 quid for one.

The club was in great condition (looked brand new!!). I did ask the ebay seller to mark the value as $90 on the customs forms so that it would get marked as "low value". Otherwise you could get hit for VAT, import duty etc.

Overall it was a great buy and I have found the club really excellent. I am a 18 handicapper, hopefully on the way down now thanks to the new driver, but as it is said you drive for show and putt for dough!!!

Take a look @ http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=47337&item=3685951003 and see what you think.

    Hope this helps

The Ping Tisi is a great second hand buy! Even the old black one- the grey one is slightly better as it looks a sits a little nicer behind the ball. Most of the different shafts in them are pretty good obviously once you get the right shaft!

Im using the gret Tisi with the pro force shaft. a bit dated now but very sweet!

    Size doesnt matter.
    Yes it does.
The largest club head size permittable is 460cc.
    Anything above this is illegal.

MisterAnarchy to be honest i wouldn't go near any Nike drivers .... I've had mates who've purchased them and most of them said they were crap .... Just look at Mister Woods and how his game went when he changed to Nike clubs ....

I bought the new driver from Wilson a few weeks ago .... Wilson Deep Red II MAXX, it's a savage club, a lethal weapon .... Our own P. Harrington uses it .... I wouldn't be the longest hitter but one of the holes on the back 9 i played last week measures 332 yards and i drove the ball about 2 yards short of the green .... I nearly fell over when i saw how far i drove the ball ....

PS I paid 265 for the Wilson driver ....

It was originally 300 but the guy in McGuirks let me have it for 265 euro ....

he's right about the Nike driver- feels like hittingthe ball with a frying pan and the shafts are less than good.

Stick to the tried and trusted if yoou're uncertain at all!

A frying pan, very good ShriekingSheet .... I played a round with the Nike driver before and it was like using a shovel to hit the ball .... I didn't feel confident at all using it ....

It is the new Precept Moonsole Driver.
In tests it was proven to be the most accurate driver on tour .
    Also the fourth longest.
Its here for half price.150 euro.

To be honest I dont think the higther COR clubs will become llegal for amateur play. I mean its not going to affect 99% of Club Golfers.
As you say most of the newer clubs (King Cobra, Titleist, Taylor Made) are of the higher COR and there is no way that everyone is going to stop using them and get a new one when they become "illegal".

    IMHO.

I have the King Cobra and its a beaut.
    Cost ya ~€400 though.
