I need to schedule an appointment for a visa at the US embassy.

    From the site:

    Visa Information Service: 1580 47 VISA (1580 47 8472)
(Calls cost Euro 1.90/minute including VAT -- calls made from a mobile phone may cost more)

Does anyone know the button combination to skip all the bullsh!t and go straight to an operator.

Last year it cost me a fortune to call.

I wrote it down last year when i got my visa. Didn't know I would be going back. Never kept the number combination :(

This would prob be better served in Travel/Holidays but it will get more hits here. Kinda need to get my visa sorted soon.

A lot of phone systems will direct you to an operator if you simply don't press any buttons for a while. It works on the assumption you are on a rotary phone, I'm not saying that will work in this case but it might be worth a shot.

Called them earlier. The process has changed from last year.

No more of, press 1 for this, 2 for that, 3 for .... you get the picture.

It is now only a repeated message played over and over until an operator answers your all. Which of course they never did, and I was charged for 10mins @ €1.90/min :( I got cut off then.

Gonna have to call back tomorrow.

Em....would it be not worth your while just calling in there to make an appointment?
Take time off work, twill probably cost you less.....
