I am looking for an indoor aerial that will give me a very good reception
for rte1/net and tv3,anyone know what would be the best one to get as the standard one with the tv is useless, any help appreciated.
Also what outdoor aerial would i have to use to get bbc1/2 etc and how much would it cost.

    Gary.

Not familiar with TV reception in your area but an heres an educated guess

A wideband (say 18 element) UHF aerial pointed at Cairn Hill or Three Rock would probably be your best bet for the Irish Channels (wideband so as to be "digital ready")
Kippure would also be an option but the need for seperate VHF and UHF aerials would be a disadvantage

For the UK channels youre talking about a high gain aerial (Hirchmann, Unix 100 or Televes DTT) on a high pole pointed at Divis (or perhaps Brougher or Camlough)

    Here in Delvin, I use:

Large Group A aerial pointed at Brougher Mountain, with a masthead amplifier to recieve UK Stuff on the following channels
    • BBC1: CH 22
    • BBC2: CH28
    • UTV: CH25
    • CHANNEL4: CH32

For Irish stuff Cairn Hill is your best bet,as the power output is very high and you should not need any amplification using the 18 element aerial as Mike 1972 suggested.
    • RTE1: CH40
    • NETWORK2: CH43
    • TV3: CH46
    • TG4: CH50

Check your neighbours aerials, larger ones should be pointing North the smaller ones pointing North West.If the larger aerials are pointing North East your neighbours are fed from Divis, but Brougher is probably a better bet.

We are in a "Black" area here in Delvin when it comes to reception of Cairn Hill and I have to take my Irish stuff from Claremont Carn in Louth.

Cosworth is it Manorfield .I was on to Cahills (look in golden pages) he offered to put up aerial for a trial for 30 euros .If the reception was crap he would take it away.If i was happy with reception he wants 450 for the aerial installed .Look across the road there is one aerial in the estate.Maybe a quick chat with him would help.I already have Sky and am looking in to Free2view card on the net at 200 .Or a uk sub for £13.50 a month with a £120 admin fee.Alot of money to watch C4 and UTV. The guy in Cahills said that Kinnegad was not a great area for aerial reception and seen as how i cant even get FM104 on the radios in my house i dont see how Uk channels will be great.I already have quad lnb so sky card probably best bet for me.

Yeah its in manorfield,i seen the aerials but they are too big,i have chorus digital and just want something to give me a decent reception in the kitchen for RTE1 net 2 etc.
I got a qoute for 120 for an rte aerial but he can't garuntee a decent reception.
I got a qoute from cahills for 250 and said i'll get a good reception so i'll prob go with that.
How are you getting on in the new house?
    Gary
