Ok Ok before you all go mad about this, I have searched but to no avail, a lot of conflicting information in all the posts about this.

What I have is a Sky box and a UK FTV card, I want to upgrade it to full subscription and pay with an irish credit card, the house that the sky card is registered to in the UK is my parents, so still access to this. What do I do, do I ring SKY and tell them I want to upgrade? Give them my credit card number and they upgrade it for me, will i get a contract (my mother will post it over) and send it back?

Is it really that simple? Any experiences etc would be great

    Thanks in advance

    G

    Why Upgrade?

I presume you paid £23.50 for the FTV card.
If you "upgrade", will Sky refund you the money paid??? I think not.

Get a new subscription, and sell your FTV card on Ebay.
you will most likely get more than the £23.50 you originally forked out.

    Good Thinking
Or alternatively use that ftv card for the spare room with another digibox and get your new subscription card separately, see'ing as you have the uk address.
I can highly recommend Sky plus by the way as an option for the new sub, then you can use your current box for the spare room :)
( The sky plus will work fine over here with a UK sub )

If your getting a new sub, I will buy the ftv card from you!

As far as I know, Sky will need to send you out a new viewing card anyway as they don't just "upgrade" FTV cards. At least, that's what they did when I went from FTV card to UK sub. I had one of the "free" P2 cards from when the BBC was still operating the scheme so I don't know if that makes a difference.

The easiest thing to do would be is the following:

    1. Ring Sky on their UK number and block out your caller ID (prefix 141 before the number), and ask for a "second hand subscription" to your name, your parent's address and give them your credit card details (the address details don't have to match).
You don't need to give them a phone number (landline or mobile), just tell them you don't have one/either or that you'd rather not give them that information.

    2. They will then send you out your viewing card and the contract (which your parents will forward on to you).

    3. Ring up to get the card activated, and send your signed contract back to your parents and get them to post it (I don't know if this makes a difference, but in theory they should be able to tell that it came from the ROI if you post it here. Better to be safe than sorry!)

    4. Enjoy!
