    what is the difference between the two, other than the resolution?

    cryspiness? clearness? the thing that you can actually see SXGA without the need of a microscope?

    as far as i know, they just refer to the max resolution the monitor can support. Google for the exact resolutions. I don't think they refer to anything else.

    The only other concern with a monitor is the dot pitch ( i tihnk its called). The smaller the dots, the sharper the monitor will be. I think 0.27mm-0.26mm is standard.

    SXGA = Super XGA
    UXGA = Ultra XGA

    UXGA is 1600x1200 afaik or something.

    Either way you're going to need a 19"-21" TFT or a 21"-22" arpeture grille CRT.
