    Just connect it ,and tell Itunes not to open when Ipod is detected and it will show as a HD in windows.

    as far as i remember ( i did it a few months ago with a friend ipod) you'll have to open itunes to 'enable disk use' but before that itl recognise the fact that its a different ipod and ask you whether you want to 'update automatically' thus wiping whatever was on that ipod and copying the contents of your itunes(and ipod) onto the second one, say no to that and then you can work away as using it as a HD the contents of the other ipod will aslo appear in itunes when its connected.
