Exporting to Germany??

I am trying to sell my car (00' Renault Megane) and I have had it
advertised on a couple of web sites.

Anyway, this dealer from Germany sent me an email saying he was interested
and could I confirm price, condition, etc.

This I did, and he has replied saying he is happy to proceed with the
purchase. He is going to send me a bank draft coving the price of the
car plus the extra amount for shipping. He wants me to lodge the
draft and when it is cleared, he wants me to send the extra amount
by Western Union transfer to his shipping agent in Holand, who will then
send someone to collect the car.

Does this sound kosher? I can't see a problem if the money is sent in
advance. Has anyone heard of this sort of thing before?

He is putting a lot of trust in me sending the money before he sees the car -
I presume he realises its right hand drive!

(of course he is getting a bargain though....)

    :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

This is a scam, got the same thing myself after putting different things up for sale on various websites.

Get someone that speaks german to reply and it's unlikely that he will respond as most of these emails come from Nigeria.

I'm afraid Verdammt is right. Have a look through these Google results.

Cars in Germany are way cheaper, and they drive on the other side. Why should anyone wanna buy a car from Ireland (except is`s a colectors item, which your megane isn`t...)

I am sure it`s some kind of scam...

I am german... can send him an email, if you want...

If you ever see western union mentioned, alarm bells should ring. There's no comeback for you if you get scammed through WU.

Also, what would a german dealer want a right-hand drive car for? :)

edit: blah, dsab beat me to it.

    what is his email address?
I am aware of this being common in the UK on expensive high performance cars where you send them your address and they com round and burgle you, steal the keys and drive your car off for a waiting customer.
    see www.bmwcarclubgb.co.uk/forsale/warning.htm for example
