Rooney to Man Utd?

seen as the season's over clubs will be going mad in the summer buying selling.

in the sunday world they said fergie is lining up a 20m pound bid. wouldnt surprise me to be honest, he's a fighter, english, young and has talent. 20m is probably ott but its man utd, its not that big a gamble.

rooney seems everton through and through but he's young and im sure the bright lights and glamour of man u would lure him away especially now that walter smith is their as no.2.

wouldnt be my first target but you know what your getting and it would give us some very nice forward options. if utd are let talk to rooney no doubt chelsea will come in and try to disrupt everything.

this summer in particular utd must be very discreet and swift with their dealings. chelsea with kenyon there seem to be spoiling every manu target and trying to nick them at the last minute.

They may get him if Ruud goes but think he might move before euros in case he gets a price increase, if he is going for him.

As an Arsenal fan I have one word of warning for them going this direction Francis Jeffers (ok two words). He was supposed to be the next greatest thing and well we all know what happened with him!!!!

I do not think that Rooney is what United need. They have talent up front, its the midfield they need to concentrate on, especially the centre midfield.

    Gandalf.

I really don't want Rooney at Man United.
I don't think he deserves the level of respect he gets, hes still nothing compared to Owen, and never really does amazing stuff week in week out againist top opposition.

Even if he was as good as people say he is, I still don't think hes as good as Ruud(anywhere near it) or as good as Saha.

If Ruud goes(which he won't) it would be for a hell of a lot of money, money that Man United could spend on someone with an international flavour, like Raul or someone.

The Sunday World do a lot of things well but predicting transfers isn't one of them!

Same speculation end of last season, doubt it......hope not anyway. There are better talents out there for that kind of money. Would like to see united have an English striker at the club though.....Dont think Rooney is the right one for United. As Gandalf said united need to strenghten other positions maybe Left back could be a possible area alongside the midfield....I reckon the majority of Fergies money will go to creating comptetion for Giggs and Scholes, (vandervarrt :D ), Would prefare to see Fergie bring the likes of Defoe or Smith in ahead of Rooney....I know Smith probably wouldnt come to United and Defoe has just moved, but someone in that vain, Milner maybe.....

Hopefully it's true, Rooney isn't what they need.

United do not need another unproven striker.

Smith gets more bookings than goals.

What do you mean "another" "unproven".

Ruud scored goals for fun in Holland, and has done the biz for United, of that there is no doubt.

Saha, while lacking experience on the European front, has also done quite well since signing.

Alright, Forlorn has had a bad time of it, but he did well in S. America according to reports ( I have no stats on this, but will gladly back down if someone has ).

It wasnt just the Sunday World who were talking about Rooney, they were talking about it on Sky Sports on Sunday morning too.

One of the reporters said RvN was no longer happy at United. When he joined he thought he was the final cog in a great team. Now he thinks he IS the team.

Plus he doesnt get on with Saha at all, and to make matters worse (for RvN), Saha has become instantly popular in the dressing room. Of course utter contempt for each other never stopped Sheringham and Cole from playing together.

The conclusion on Sky was that nobody knows whether this is just temporary blip that will be repaired over the summer, or fatal rift that will see Ruud demand a transfer to Madrid. They reckoned he'd go for about £40m, and IF he went United may go after Rooney - for £25m.

In Uruguay, Forlan was seen as a super talent, but his weakness was he didnt score enough (any!) goals, either for his club or for Uruguay underage teams - exactly the form that he brought to England, especially in his first 12 months over. His lack of goals was the reason he hadnt made the breakthrough to the full international team prior to his move.

I often get confused about Ferguson's treatment of Forlan. It seemed that when he was going through his goal drought, he was getting loads of games, then when he started to score he'd find it very hard to get a game!

Ironically since his move to United, his goalscoring form with Uruguay has been sensational. I think he's near enough a goal per game with the full international team.

Ruud is not playing like the last few seasons. He was always running all over the pitch closing down players trying to get the ball, this season you only heard Ruuds name when he scored or missed a peno. Saha is doing what Ruud did when he first came here, he wants the ball and is not afraid to make tackels. And i have to say £20Million for Ronney is a joke.

I've no doubt Ronney will be a good forward in 10 years time but he has about 10 goals this season and has been sent off 2 or 3 times. But he is not worth £20Million at this moment in time. If Ruud goes (but i dont think he will) for £40 million then Fergie should get Robbie Keane for £5Million and John Terry but i dont think terry would leave.

Also has anyone else heard today Linking Man United with a move for Andy Reid?? I heard it on the Radio.

    Dewey.

Alex Ferguson said Robbie Keane wasnt worth £,500,000 before his move from coventry . Itwould be funny if he waswilling to pay £5 million now .

Rooney is a good player and is also young. i doubt if he will go to united but who knows. fergie might want a defender more than a Forward but imo they need another striker. RVN is not playing the best of late but is still a quality striker when on form. If Ruud was to go I could see someone else playing up front but not Rooney.

Maybe you should get a job in the sunday world with those porkies.

Rooney is a very good player, he has only scored 9 goals in 33 this year but bear in mind he plays for everton, so he hardly gets things put on a plate. He is a batller with a big heart and is very ambitious to fulfil all the hype.

Having said that I dont think hes what united need after signing Saha. Solksjaer will also be fully fit next term to lend his weight to the goal scoring duties.

He is also 31 now, how much longer will/can he last?

I think Rooney would fit quite well into the Manchester United set up, but he would have to be willing to accept the role of third striker, which I doubt he would do. Everyone knows Fergusons love of the 4-4-1-1 set up for Europe, and only sometimes plays a 4-4-2 in the domestic games, and Saha would be the second choice striker to partner Van Nistelrooy.

However, if Van Nistelrooy does leave this summer, then I think Ferguson would look to replace him with someone more experienced than Rooney, perhaps Raul in part of any deal that would take Van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid.

I don't know where these stories saying that Saha and Van Nistelrooy are not getting on, it's the first I've heard of it.

Ronney will probably have retired in 10 years time, Rooney should be still around though.;)

If you're talking about Reid, he wasn't linked with ManU. ex-United coach, Docherty, said he would be a great signing for United. Thats all.

And he is notorious for being very anti United, ever since he got sacked for sleeping with the Physio's wife way back in the 70's.

Anything that man says about United, I would take with a mountain of salt.

there's something about rooney that makes him unique imo. he's like a paul scholes, just a gem to have in the side. however i agree we should strengthen other areas first.

a left back is needed, ive faith in o'shea but just as competition and to have backup. left winger also, im almost certain giggs is leaving in the summer, van nistelrooy isnt. van der vaart as mentioned earlier would be ideal for utd but with robben nicked by chelsea ive a feeling arsenal could nick him aswell.

ronaldo is solid on the right, he gives good balance to the side and if we had another ronaldo on the left our midfield wouldnt look so understrength.

if we can get a decent left side we won't need much more. between miller, kleberson, butt, keane, scholes, djemba, fletcher im sure we'll find a solid combination in the centre.

miller & keane in the centre, solksjaer on the right and ronaldo on the left would be my choice but i wouldnt mind having another world class player to partner keane.

as for our defence, i think it's equal to if not better than arsenal's when fit.

No matter how much money is thrown at the everton board this summer for rooney.. he wont be sold... he's everton thru and thru and he is staying...

Everton are trying to build a good squad for the future with the young talent coming through and rooney is one of the key players for everton's future...

if they can get together a good side with rooney in it, they could eventually get back to the good oul days and start regularly winning trophies again... im sure they'll make a lot more money from getting into europe for a couple of seasons than taking 20 million now...

I know this sounds mad to you non-evertonians, but its about time we turned things around... players like rooney dont come around that often for free... he has to stay, no matter how much debt it would wipe out...
