if you have broadband go to the mix forum on www.dogsonacid.com and get downloading. the main forum on that site also has truckloads of mixes being posted on it every day. its the busiest forum in all dance music, and its 100% drum and bass, you get some pretty big names posting their monthly mixes up, often of tunes that wont be out for aaaages [it being drum and bass and being annoyingly slow to get released!]

*edit* and of course, if youre in dublin go to studio b at the legal eagle every friday, and refuge at the metropolitan every saturday!

ok... i'm REALLY bored, so for the broadband cru heres a few really really good mixes of tunes everyone should have. going to pput up the mixes in pretty much chronological order by year, starting with oldschool and going right up to a few mixes of unreleased stuff.

first mix is mainly 94-95 era stuff, just as drum and bass was shedding itself of its old ragga and hardcore roots and becoming its own thing. prettty interesting era, and some of the best dance music ever.

truckers metalheadz tribute mix: metalheadz were a pivotal label in the mid nineties, they went off the boil a bit between 2000 and 2003 but have come back in the last few months and are once again running things... the music they put out between 95 and 97 was some of the most beautiful futuristic and soulful music ever released, anywhere, ever. this is a mix of tunes from that era.

2001 was the year of the oldschool revival... 2002 was the year jump-up drum and bass made its big comeback, 2003 was the year that jump-up squeezed everything else of the biggest dancefloors and also the year that drum and bass was decentralised, people like hive in america, calibre in belfast and dublins bassbin crew, as well as assorted dutch polish russian hungarian crews all proved they could equal and surpass anything that came out of london. 2003 also saw the birth of the freestyle drum and bass movment, centred around labels like inperspective bassbn offshore ohm resistance, limericks subtle audio, forestry services, streetbeats etc.

so one "clownstep" jump-up mix: this one is an hour long, has 50 tunes on it and was reocrded on three turntables.

You're in the right city for quality jungle. As Tyranny mentioned, Bassbin's regular Sat night 'Refuge' in the Metropolitan is as good as it gets for jungle and DnB, and the Studio B crowd keep it street as well.

I find most of the stuff on breakbeat.co.uk these days vomit-inducing tbh. I've really been turned off the whole clownstep jump-up fag0try that's popular in the UK the past few years. Stick to mixes off irishdrumandbass.com.

And Goldie's 'Timeless' really is.
