    gey there

I am backing up all my dvds using dvd shrink. When I have them on the HD can I just use Nero6 and create dvd from file and then just browse to that folder and away I go thanks folks.

You could try dvdXcopy, it will copy a full dvd in around 30mins....... nice and easy to use and i find it excellent. Other than that you could use the likes of gordian Knot to rip the DVD to a 700mb file which you could store on cd.......

    PS moving to tech forum

no need, the latest version of dvd shrink automatically burns the backed up dvd onto a blank dvd. It will detect a dvd burner and prompt you to replace the dvd you are copying from with a blank dvd when the dvd has been backed up. just simply look for the latest version of dvdshrink.
alternatively you can use nero to create a 'dvd video' and then select the backed dvd files: ifo vbs bup etc to the video files directory and burn away.

dvd shrink can encode a dvd9(dual layer) to an iso file which can be burned using dvddecrypter. This is a quick and reliable method.

dvd2one(free) is easy to use but only so-so at compressing movies and hasnt got the functionality of dvdshrink. nero is good but i know people who have had problems playing through ps2s.

Stomp recordnowmax is good for burning compressed VIDEO_TS folders. every disc i've burned with stomp has played on every player ive tried.

the only challenge is finding affordable good discs.
