power sockets in planes

Saw a gizmo in maplins that allows you to plug notebooks into car lighter sockets. It also had a smaller connection head that it claimed was for planes.

I'm very interested in the possability of this (I will be 40 hours in the air in June) but I can't ever remember seeing a power socket in the seats in a transatlantic (or european) flight.

    Can anyone verify this?

    That might explain it.

Well considering my employers I can't see me getting an upgrade :(
