I have a bit of a problem, i need to re-install my copy of XP home. The only problem is, I've lost the cd-key. Is there any way of finding out what cd-key i entered when I installed xp in the begining? I'm assuming that because you enter it when its being installed that it must be in there somewhere.

    Thanks for any help.

I'm pretty sure it's not listed in the registry anymore like in 98.
Is it a legit copy? if so you should of got a sticker with it to put on the case....if it is legit microsoft support can prob help

if it's not then you will have to get one of someone.

To locate your Product ID, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. The Product ID is located under Registered to on the General tab.

Taken from the Win XP support site. Tells you all about activation.
