I dont know if many of you guys know me well, but I'm a pretty reasonable guy. I mod the Carlow It board and have just been appointed mod of the Mtg forum.

I hope my history on the Carlow IT board wont be a factor when it comes to this forum and I know I wont let it be a problem.

Anyway, to get to the point of this thread. I just wanted to talk to you guys about a charter for this forum. I'm extremely open minded when it comes to anything and everything and I'm basically hoping I wont have to write any of it.

So, to get the ball rolling... what rules do we want, what do we want to allow, what dont we want.

First thing I'm interested in discussing is for sale/trade threads.

I know ordinarily they should have no real place here but I cant imagine anyone visiting the for sale & trade forums to scour through the multitude of threads just to find some cards. So I'd like to keep them here if at all possible. That said, I'm open to suggestions.

    Speak! :)

Well so far this has been a very well behaved board, the regulars aren't muppets thank god. Yes, it's much better to keep all the card trading on this board. Can't think of any rules yet really :/

Ah, dont think of me as a mod. Just someone to sticky threads and ban muppets who come to our secret little board with such exquisite witisisms like "Mtg sucks", "Ye're all nerds" etc. etc.

I'm here to keep the peace is all.

Also to pimp my decks & website :ninja:

    This thread should be stickied.

Card-selling/trading: If it's allowed by the head honchos in Boards, it's not a bad idea. I can't imagine the threads being a great disturbance to anyone.

I'll post rules as they come to me, being a great fan of rules, logic, order, etc. (Think Bureaucracy.)

i spose itd b ok to develop this into a more magicireland type forum with threads for T1, T2, general chat, events etc. id also like to see part of the forum dedicated to trade, its a good idea and might help me move some of my cards in the absence of tournaments and events in mayo :D

    Thread stickied.

Personally when I get my first paycheck there are a few decks I want to make. So I might start making the rounds looking for cards.

How's about a stickied trade only thread. Where people post cards they are currently trading/links to a website with the cards/or a link to a thread on the trading forum?

    Any thoughts?

we don't have a large enough amount of users to justify this. Keeping everything on the one board is the better idea for now imo.

i didnt mean separate boards, just seperate threads laid out in a separate board like fashion.

maybe if you make one thread sticky where every1 is only allowed one post, in that post you list all your trades and the cards you're looking for or link to a webpage with your trades on it. That way you can easily find out what others have. The only problem is that boards won't let you edit a post after a certain amount of time, maybe you can get ecksor to change that for that thread Ivan.

If we're to have a trades thread, we have to make sure people know what they are getting into. Perhaps we could put up a disclaimer in the Charter warning them that neither we nor Boards have any liability in case of fraud.

Do we really need this? There'll be no more than ten or so people interested in card trades on Boards at one time, so it's not as if the thread will be clogged up with posts. If there were more interest in Magic, we could justify this. But it doesn't seem necessary to me, as long as each party knows what it's getting from the other party.

<<EDIT>> Forgetting my subjunctive clauses... I'll be forgetting my head next... <<EDIT>>

Let me throw some things together:

    Charter - READ THIS FIRST

A: This is a forum for the collectable card game Magic: the Gathering. If you've any questions about the game or Magic events, ask away! One of us will answer, and we all know what we're talking about. (Well...)

B: If you want to trade cards, go to the "Cards wanted" thread. You can see other posters' cards, make deals, etc. Make sure your partner is trustworthy, as the moderators and Boards.ie accept no responsibility for cards lost through trading on this board. That said, you can trust all of the regulars on the board - we're really very nice people.

C: If you're planning on spamming, do it somewhere else. Flaming is also looked upon poorly, though good-natured banter is fine. Know where to draw the line.

D: Atari Jaguar (English translation: Any other suggestions? Want to point out the instances of shody speeling?)

    Nice one. Very good start.

I'll throw in a bit more and make up our charter tomorrow, when I get back home to lovely DSL.

    Anyone got any more input?
