    Hi there.

I have recently installed JAWS (Java Applications With Speech) onto a Windows 98 computer. The programme is working fine but I have some questions that one or two of the readers who have the programme might be able to help me with.

    1. How do you get JAWS to read the conversation in Windows Messenger?

    2. As the person whose computer this programme was installed on is completely blind she is unable to use the mouse on the GUI interface of windows media player 9 series. What I would like to know is if there is somewhere I can get a list of keyboard commands for navigating Windows media player.

    I would appreciate any assistance.

    thanking you in advance.

    Keyboard Shortcuts for Media Playback
Users can control media not only by selecting buttons on the control panel, but also by using keyboard shortcut keys or accelerator keys that standalone Windows Media Player supports.

The accelerator keys appear as underlined characters on the menus of the player when you press the <shift> and F10 keys simultaneuously. To make an accelerator key function, you need to press the <alt> key with the underlined character shown on the menu. For instance, press the <alt> key with "V" and "N" to go to the "Now Playing Tools" menu. You can also search items on the main menu by using the up and down arrow keys or by pressing underlined characters.

Following are the major shortcut keys that users need for controlling the media:

    Access to shortcut menu: <shift> + F10
Navigation through menu: <shift> + F10, arrow keys, and <enter>
    Close shortcut menu: ESC
    Open: <ctrl> + O
    Open URL: <ctrl> + U
    Shuffle: <ctrl> + H
    Repeat: <ctrl> + T
    Volume Up: F10
    Volume Down: F9
    Mute: F8
    Play/Pause: <ctrl> + P
    Stop: <ctrl> + S
    Skip Back: <ctrl> + B
    Skip Forward: <ctrl> + F
    Return to Full Mode: <ctrl> + 1

Apologies to fcddunne I've been lookin' for the shortcuts the past few days and hadn't had any success... I'm obviously not looking in the right places!
