Basically, my old CD-RW drive died about 2 weeks ago, and my DVD-Rom drive died just now. I need a replacement.

Ideally it would be a DVD-Rom/CD-RW combo, but that isn't essential.

But what i do need is the ability to copy the lastest game protections fo backups. Whats the recommendations? One from komplett would be ideal....

if i was in the market for one i'd go for this

not only is it cheap (€33.88)

but it's good write speed, i'm sure it would do game backup's

i saw that one, but a google made me doubt its copying abilities as regards games. If i can;t get anything guarenteed to copy Safedisc 2.9+, then i will probably go for that.

EDIT: MY DVD-Rom drive started working again.... wierd. Could this be a software glitch?

I have the NEC ND-2500A DVDRW €79.89 available pretty much everywhere for dirt cheap especially JES Computer. The Pioneer DVR-107 is also a very good DVDRW drive also available from JES for €109.35.

aye, i have the black version of that drive.
haven't managed to make a backup of a recent copy protected game without needing a crack though...

if i could turn back time, i would've listened to peoples 'lite-on' recommendations

    /edit
