    pfft
    I can see that becoming a law....not :)

Infact the only thing I can see happening is smoking outside in beer gardens being banned due to it being part of the pubs work place and bar staff have to go outside and collect glasses etc,
hmm now thats a idea for a new add-on to the law.

    I like it... :D

Given how crowded they are getting, it seems reasonably to think that non smokers would stay inside. Besides, isn't a packed and smokey atmosphere what the non smokers are trying to avoid?

I don't think they should be forced but you'd think that have some decency and allow the one place where smokers are still allowed go to remain available to them.

Maybe us non-smokers can show smokers the same consideration they showed us :D

yes dam those non-smokers wanting to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine
Maybe us non-smokers can show smokers the same consideration they showed us

All the times I asked a smokers to put out a cigerate and not smoke and all the times they actually did it
I was amazed the 00000000.000 times it happened.

wait till winter comes, then you can have the beer gardens all to yourselves.

    Will you **** off...

So what you are basically saying is... Just because smokers have the will power of a dead chicken, cant not suck on a cigarette for more than 10 minutes and are forbidden by law to smoke indoors - that non smokers should not be allowed to sit in a a beer garden outside just because smokers believe they are been hard done by and feel left out in the cold!!

I will say it again... **** OFF

I hope this is a piss take!!!

Well if this LOTR.jpg is how one looks after countless years of smoking fags, then i'm staying indoors :D

But on a serious note, this pole would be a lot better if it showed how smokers/non-smokers voted.

I reckon the results of the poll speak for themselves....

The biggest problem with the smoking ban IMO is that now everyone notices when you fart in a pub :)

Ho ho ho, what an amusing poll. Oddly enough, given the progressively warm er weather, many people might enjoy sitting outside in the beer gardens. Some people may be of a more casual disposition, and not mind now sitting out with their smoking compadrés. None should be penalised. And seriously, not many non-smokers have ever complained too much about smoking outside where it can dissipate a lot more.

    Agreed
Never heard anyone complain when its been outside

^^^ The cynic in me says give it time, and those with nothing better to do will start. :( Hope Im wrong.Besides, given the measures weve taken to protect our non-smokers from cancer, shouldnt we also protect them from the sun and skin cancer.Money has been spent protecting the lives of non smokers and I dont want to see that money wasted, there for I will be keeping all my non-smoking friends in the dark, for their own health, and my tax money. :)

    Smokers are Jokers!

Emm no ok being real now...
Inside can be uninteresting also the music can be too lowd or it could be a **** song also the drunken ness and conversation is allot better outside so i think non smokers can sit if they want, but mabe we could discrimanate,
Draw a white line trough half of the beer garden smokers on 1 side non smokers on the other...

    Voted wrong in the poll,

should be an extra yes vote.

    that is all :)

Of course they shouldn't be made stay inside. However they shouldn't bitch at smokers for smoking outside either. I'm a total non-smoker, and people smoking near me outdoors doesn't bother me as the smoke gets blown away pretty quickly. Sitting at an enclosed bar beside a smoker would irritate me though.

wow, where do you smoke - I was partaking of a few beverages and many, many cigarettes, in a seated area outside the pub I drink at - and 4 people came up to me and complained about the smoke coming from my cigarettes. so in as gracious and non slurred manner, I tried to explain to them

    a) i was following the smoking ban to the letter
    b) i dont control the air currents....not yet
    c) that they kindly take their visage from my field of vision as I was trying to keep my alcohol down
and d) (which I murmered) f&&k off you goddamn b*stards and leave me alone with slow method of suicide

A group of friends and I had to freeze our asses off in a beer garden one night, just because 1 in the group smoked, a bit annoying.

Be interesting to see what smokers will do when the winter comes in again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,783 ✭✭✭Puck

So what you're saying is one person out of your group was so desperate for a cigarette they went outside in the freezing cold and dragged the rest of you with them for some company? Sonds like a really nice person.

If Smokers are denied the right to Smoke then i think yes indeed that preference should be given to them for the beer gardens. Its only fair, bit like smoking and non smoking sections in a restraunt.

I think that non smokers are big bigest bunch of Self Rightious **** ever. They bitch about skmoking but aren't happy when the smokers have to move outside.

even heard someone complain that smoking is now too social. Suggesting that smokers should be isolated from each other until they give up.

Non-smokers are entitled to enjoy a beer outside too. It's interesting to see that Croker has banned smoking in the (outdoor) seats, to ensure that the non-smoking majority are able to enjoy the game in comfort.

The level of discomfort would vary depending on wind direction & number of smokers. A simple allocation of 75% of the outdoor area to non-smoking (to reflect the 75% of the population that don't smoke) would solve this problem.
