AVG didn't remove it fully because i got the "closing in 60 seconds thing" after i had removed it :(. Hopefully this symantec tool will do it.

If its Sasser you have, go here for full instructions on how to remove it and protect yourself against it:

the best protection is to run a software firewall (Kerio is my choice) and to never open e-mail attachments unless you're 110% sure they're safe. I.e. when you get a few words in the main body of the e-mail, and its something like "Your document is attached" just delete it.

Aye Norton is great for viruses. It's well worth buying. I had two nasty ones a while ago that were causing my system to crash but managged to get rid of them and the errors seemed to sort themselves out after a few days.

Spybot then for everything else. It finds a lot of stuff that norton doesn't find.

Why buy expensive software when free alternatives are available.

Kerio personal firewall is the best free one (in my opinion...) and Anti-Virus Guard 7 is the best free anti-virus proggy.

Those two programs and common sense protect my computer better than any commercial program.

if u need to stop the shutdown thing go to the run command and type "shutdown -a" without the commas and that will stop the shutdown. its not a solution and you should only use it to let you download the patch.
