LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The ensemble voice cast of Fox's hit animated comedy "The Simpsons" has signed a new four-year deal with the show's producer after going on strike about a month ago in the midst of contract negotiations.

Dan Castallaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer and Yeardley Smith will return to work next week.

"We couldn't be happier to have reached a multiyear deal with the enormously talented cast of 'The Simpsons," producer 20th Century Fox TV said in a statement late Friday. "Fans will be pleased to know that despite our recent production delay, we are optimistic that they can look forward to a full season's episodes next year on Fox, and hopefully many years to come."

"The Simpsons" is returning for its 16th season in the fall. The show, which celebrated its 300th episode last season, has been Fox's strongest scripted performer, anchoring the network's Sunday lineup.

Additionally, the show has generated hundreds of millions in auxiliary revenues such as DVD sales and merchandise, raising the value of the franchise to over $1 billion.

Well I'm glad they have signed a new deal. Simpsons have always been brilliant and i dont think it would of been the same if they have NEW voices. I'm also looking forward to the movie which is coming out in a few years. I bet there will be loads of celebs in it.

Thing is, I used to really like this show, but the way it has turned out is awful. It's like watching your pet gerbil get tortured every day.

Come on, Simpsons arent that bad......well i know there not as good as they us to be but they always have one or two funny lines. ok ok, the simpsons are turning into what friends are the moment, weak on storylines. I'm sick of hearing Lisa saying " The Simpson are going to Japan.....or Europe...or..Canada" something stupid like that. But i'm still glad they signed a new deal, i'm hoping the film will be good. please god.

Well if it makes you feel better i heard that they are supposed to be ending the show at the end of the 13th season, cause the writers are running out of ideas for the show. I don't know wether it's true or not, it's been a while since i read it somewhere.

I still like The Simpsons but i think that Homer is to stupit to be funny any more.

You can only flog a dead horse for so long but if people continue to buy the merchandise and the DVD's then FOX will only keep churning out more episodes.

Im sick of the simpsons slagging itself all the time, by pointing out things like that, the whole going to X thing... heres an idea, how about you stop refering to old episodes that were funny and start trying to match them???

Yes we all know that, and no that is not the problem. No one expects to be AS GOOD as it was but we do still expect it to BE good to some degree. Fact is it's a painfully sh1t and unfunny show written by a bunch of hacks who couldn't pull a joke out of their arses if their lives depended on it and if the show they were working on wasn't called 'The Simpsons' they'd probably still be looking for a new job right now.

So what? Even I could write a simpsons episode with one or two funny lines in it.

Really? That's weird because I hope they all die painfully for their show of avarice.

*Smack* Next year will be Season 16. If you're going to get our hopes up, please do it properly.

As Pigman II said, a few good lines does not excuse the general mess surrounding them. I no longer watch the show because it's too painful to see them abuse the wonderful legacy Groenig built up. Classic Simpsons are, in some ways, hurtful nostalgia because they even more highlight just how poor today's episodes are. Like "Friends", the show should have been put down like a lame horse and then ground down and made into glue that could be used to bind the writer's fingers together so that they are never ever allowed write again.

They've given me hundreds of hours of entertainment for free and as such I feel they owe me.

I do ... devotly. I only wish more people who only seem to watch the show out of false expectation and misguided loyality would do the same.
