right - who determines these unspoken laws of life? A can have B, but A ain't getting no love from C... why with curves like that she's only got eyes for F(...ineeeee). I imagine this is an issue that we've all had plague us at some point in our lives - the atypical highschool crush; but french teacher with a mightily obtrusive blouse (so bad it just had to be hiding something better); etc. Of course in the case of the french teacher, we'll have to give an obligatory nod to the porn industry to milk that fantasy - cause that ain't happnin' brother.

now the personal edge to the story: at the merry age of 23 i've had fair bevy of beauties (not quite beauties - but for the sake english expression...). or more seriously, i'm alright looking and i've dated alright looking girls (alright?). now recently there was this girl at work whom i've taken quite the fancy to - and we chat incessantly about nothing, but with more quirks than a big family, incidentally called the Quirks. the banter has always been dreamy - but probably because i've always considering it safe (she has a long term (long.... term....) boyfriend). we've been out with groups of these-are-my-friends-and-your-friends-and-and-and-and; and between my stuttering thoughts at the sight of her i'd feign interest in other girls, as this is what mother has always taught us in the face of failure. then there was this week; where in the face of a marvellous disagreement with her alpha-male she ended up in my arms. now she's gone and i'm left wondering whether this was merely a blip in the logic of life and she went out of her head... or possibly we're all guilty of meaningless assignments of self-worth that serve only to limit our view of the world. Deep, huh? they call me bubba in west turkey...

It doesn't seem that you think the girl is too good for you, more that she has a long term boyfriend.

Leave it. Seriously. If she has a long term boyfriend, then let it be. Stay friends, if they break up, well then fine. But pining after someone who is with someone else is no good.

As Brian Friel said "There are plenty more fish in the sea, and they all look the same when they are upside down"

And also, girls don't like guys who don't like paragraphs.

Damn you and your wise words... Heck, I'm sensible enough to know what you say is all true; but sometime's it takes a week or so for the sense to prevail over everything else.

But seriously, I know girls who find my lack of paragraphs quite aluring.

    wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong!

you might not get another chance with someone like her, dont think for a second that he wouldnt try if she was your long term boyfriend.

    Get in there.

    (hope she's not my girlfriend)

I've always felt that if a girl is going out with someone, and does the dirt, with you, on him (you get what I mean) then I'd have trouble trusting her in the future.

If she leaves him, without interference from you, then thats different. But it is heartbreaking to want to go out with a girl who is going out with someone else.

See, now I know you are lying. ;)

Go for it matey!!! If only for the rest of us who want the 'not in my league fallacy' disproven.

(Just dont wreck ya friendship with her......)

And to be fair I know two girls who are both stunning who have bf's well below them imho....

i was sufficiently scared off by the fact that my current g/f was older than me and was so much fun to be around. how wrong i was.

it's amazing the clarity a moment of gaze upon the dublin spire can lend... it's a beautiful monument damnit! But here's the issue (all heroics aside): ball's not in my court; i'm the single one here. she has to hop the net on her own accord.

to dwell on a previous post ...the horrors of pining after a taken soul are well documented - but to borrow a moment of hindsight from the balding years over yonder hill: a day's always brighter with a neat little infatuation tucked under the collar (realised or otherwise). and seriously... i kissed quite the perfect creature. i love rambling.

Yeah, but you didn't get your hole, did you?

You should come clean and tell her that you love her and would do anything - kill ANYONE - to have her back.

    Hope this helps.

do you mean that in the sense of they are idiots what are these girls doing with these fellas, or they're wrote off and the girls should go out with someone better looking?

if its the latter i think thats part of the problem of the "she's out of my league"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

this notion of leagues is utter balls. Born out of the idiotic idea that some people are better than others. The worst thing about it is whereas some just mistakenly think they aren't as good as a potential boyfriend or girlfriend, others maintain some false sense of super high standards that they think only a select few in society can aspire to. People have different types of personalities they are attracted to. To mistake this with leagues or some people being better than others is nothing but a load of balls.

But look at me.. I'm talking shit again. I suppose I could sum it up by saying "No matter how good someone looks, someone somewhere is tired of taking their shit".

    Leagues! Dont make me laugh...

Im not sure what you mean by this; it doesnt make sense to me :O

All I meant is that on first impressions if you were a believer in leagues that you wouldnt put them together as couples.

God, destiny, sexual selection for stronger and more compatible genetic make-ups? You decide bro! ;) Too many people worrying about chicks in this place, waste of energies my friends. You'll all get what is meant for you in the end (whether this is caused by a controlling deity, a planned destiny, or simply statistics and needs, is a seperate and lengthy debate). The Beatles had it right when they sang 'Let it be'.

Na, leave it be. Couples argue all the time and you dont know what they have. They could be made for eachother and you stepping in could ruin it!

    wait.. patients is a vertue

I know if someone went near my gf - especially during an arugement, id set forth and break limbs.

The only time you can move into someones relationship is when its finished with.. In short....

you dont moe another mans lawn, unless you are given permission to.

"Hey, think about all those hot girls with those ugly dead-beat boyfriends... You could be one of them guys!"

the notion of leagues is complete rubbish. and secondly, me and my g/f get on so well cos we can argue for hours.

Yeah the prob here is defo that she has a boyfriend.

Be a decent human and leave her alone. Her boyfriend has (probably) done nothing wrong.

    ...

    Find a nice single girl.

Yep - we've all fallen for someone with a b/f at some stage, i don't ever recall it working out.

for the love of god... i agree! she has a boyfriend - that's the only issue there is; nothing else particularly matters.

there's nothing like a cold shower in the morning to bring you back to earth.
