Getting Roms to Work

    Hi,

    i use Mame 8.01b and Mame 32 along with a couple of other emulators but i have loads of roms that dont seem to work. When i run them in the normal mame it comes up with a list of files that are missing and in Mame32 it doesnt open them at all but im pretty sure the Roms are correct.

    Theres loads i have problems with but the Metal Slug series are the ones i want to get working first. They seem to be named correctly.

    Anyone any ideas ? i have a feeling it might be the version of mame or something.

    Let's try and get 1 game working.

    Give us the game name and the exact error and list of missing files (if any) and we'll take it from there

    im not at home but from what i can remember :

    metal slug 3
    file name : mslug3.zip
    Mame lists a couple of files as missing and then refuses to play the game, ill get the exact message later.

    you need the neogeo bios to play any neogeo game

    Yep - just about to say that.

    Are you getting the error with NeoGeo games ?

    The file you need is neogeo.zip

    Right thanks, i think i got that now but what or where do i unzip it to when i get home ? any particular folder ?

    In Mame32 ya just put the zip into the same folder as your roms, no need to unzip.

    Same for MAME - just put it in the roms folder.

    You should read the MAME tutorial at EasyEmu

    Right thanks lads that worked great and mame32 picked up another 10 or so games after i did an audit. I have Metal slug 3 working now but 1,2 & 4 dont work along with streets of rage ?

    Any ideas, up until now i didnt even know we needed bios's. Ill have a read of that tutorial.

    Streets of rage is a mega drive rom. Get Gens emulator for it.

    I had this problem too, i tried running shadow dancer on mame 801b, and got the list of missing roms, however the same zip file for shadow dancer ran fine on mame 32.
